The MITRE Corporation is working to solve some of the nation’s biggest challenges in defense, cybersecurity, healthcare, homeland security, the judiciary and transportation. The intern will work as part of a team to solve problem sets for the Department of Defense, focusing on research, technology development, and maintaining organized project records.
Research and analysis of open-source materials and publicly available data to understand and inform DoD problem sets
Technology development, to include basic testing, debugging, and documentation of software or hardware systems under supervision
Maintain organized records of project deliverables and research findings
Qualification
Required
Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in Data Science or a related degree program and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
Knowledge of how retrieve data from databases and other systems and tools using queries, exporting capabilities, and other effective methods.
Sustained excellence in academic performance.
Preferred
Experience having applied data science learning to an internship or research/lab position.
Demonstrated interest in serving the public.
Experience retrieving data from databases and other systems and tools using queries, exporting capabilities, and other effective methods.
Experience with modeling tools (e.g. SysML, MATLAB).
Programming exposure (e.g. .python).
Advanced Math through Calc II coursework.
