The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Commercial Data Science Intern to join their team at Walt Disney World. This role involves using data to solve complex business problems and delivering insights to support decision-making processes within the company.

- You will translate the business and analytic needs into data requirements to ensure you have the information you need to solve the problem, and work with technology partners to troubleshoot data quality
- You will work in a large, complex data environment, compiling and cleansing data across a variety of domains to create a foundation for your analytic work
- You will conduct end-to-end analysis that includes data collection and exploration, feature generation and reduction, and algorithm selection
- You will determine the best techniques to use to solve problems efficiently and effectively, examining all aspects of the analytics curve across statistical, predictive, and prescriptive methods
- You will draw inferences, quantify uncertainty/risk, and identify limitations to accurately summarize your findings, relating them back to the problem at hand
- You will successfully craft key takeaways and next steps in the context of business actionability, while facilitating the integration of your work into the decision making process
Qualification
Required
- Experience with SQL, Python, or R to perform data manipulation, engineering, or analysis
- Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases, as well as data modeling techniques/standard methodologies and practices
- Knowledge of industry leading data and analytic tools (e.g., Snowflake, Git, Sagemaker, Dataiku, Tableau)
- Ability to follow existing programming and style guidelines to maintain consistent quality of code
- Ability to maintain documentation, procedures, and working instructions for the Commercial team
- Time-management skills, with ability to prioritize multiple requests and communicate status to partners/leadership
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills and fortitude to get stuff done
- Passionate about data, technology, and challenging the status quo
- Currently enrolled undergraduate student in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, econometrics, data science)
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
- Fully available from Monday - Friday, Eastern Standard Time, for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Orlando area
Preferred
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Machine Learning
- Experience with using ML Frameworks, libraries, and tools, such as TensorFlow, Spark MLlib, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Keras, etc
- Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, as well as big data technologies
