The Financial Crimes Data Analytics and Reporting Intern will analyze data to identify emerging risks and control gaps, use SQL and Python with complex datasets, and support financial crime monitoring, reporting, and control improvements.
Analyze financial crime data to identify trends, anomalies, emerging risks, and potential control gaps
Use SQL, Python, and data analysis tools to work with large and complex datasets
Translate analytical findings into clear, practical recommendations
Suggest potential controls and process improvements to help reduce financial crime risk
Assist with evaluating the effectiveness of existing financial crime controls
Prepare presentations and summaries for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in data science, analytics, computer science, statistics, economics, finance, mathematics, or a related field
Bachelor's degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, and data analysis or visualization tools
Ability to analyze data, identify meaningful insights, and develop data-driven recommendations
