They are seeking a Research Science intern focused on Operations Research and Optimization to develop algorithms and apply machine learning techniques for real-world decision-making. - Develop and apply optimization, causal inference, and time series modeling techniques to drive operational efficiencies and improve decision-making across Amazon's fulfillment, logistics, and supply chain operations
- Design and implement scalable algorithms and data structures to support complex optimization systems
- Leverage statistical methods and machine learning to uncover insights and patterns in large-scale operations data
- Prototype and validate new approaches through rigorous experimentation and analysis
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams of researchers, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate research outputs into tangible business impact
Qualification
Required
- Are enrolled in a PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, or equivalent
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum
- Can relocate to where the internship is based
Preferred
- Experience in causal modeling like graphical models, causal Bayesian network, potential outcomes, A/B testing, experiments, quasi-experiments, and data science workflows
- Experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
