Sandhills Global is seeking a Data Scientist Intern who will assist the full-time Data Scientist team in analyzing and developing code for products and services. The role involves utilizing data to solve problems, visualizing raw data, and deploying modeling techniques.
Responsibilities
Assisting our full-time Data Scientist team in the analysis, development, and testing of code supporting our existing and future products and services
Learn, analyze, and utilize our data to solve problems and answer questions that lead us to better serve our customers
Visualize or contextualize raw data
Train, evaluate, and deploy various types of modeling techniques
Communicate the resulting trends and observations
Help facilitate the curation of our data upstream from the work described above
Ensure data is made available in the most advantageous way possible
Qualification
Required
Completion of or progress towards a degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or any other applied or quantitative discipline
Experience in Python or R, and various libraries/packages
Some understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques, including tree-based models and neural networks
Ability to perform critical thinking and statistical analysis
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to commute when scheduled to the local office is required
Able to work independently and communicate within a team environment

Hours during regular work week, Ability to commute daily to local office is required
Preferred
Knowledge around computer vision, Natural Language Processing, or Large Language Models
Experience with SQL, stored procedures, or APIs
