Internal Audit - Business and Operations Intern - Summer 2026

CME Group is currently looking for a Global Assurance Audit Summer Intern. This role involves assisting Global Assurance with day-to-day activities in support of Business and Operations Internal Audits, executing audits, and developing professional skepticism to understand processes and assess risk.

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate, logical and detailed workpapers clearly describing the work performed, results of testing and conclusions reached
  • Maintain positive and collaborative business relationships with Global Assurance's clients (auditees) to support effective and efficient audit execution
  • Execute audits to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and verify compliance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Partner with more senior members of the GA team to provide recommendations to management for strengthening controls and work with management to develop acceptable solutions to mitigate risk
  • Build knowledge of the CME Group's operations, including policies and procedures and any applicable regulatory requirements
  • Incorporate data analytics and Generative AI tools to enhance audit assurance and streamline documentation

Qualification

Required

  • Currently pursuing a BA/BS or Master's/Advanced Degree
  • Desired majors include Accounting or Finance
  • Hybrid Schedule - able to come into the CME Group Chicago Office
  • Able to work 40 hours per week
  • Basic experience with Google Workspace applications

Preferred

  • Experience with data analytics, including visualization and scripting tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView, Business Objects, SQL, or Python) is a plus
