Intern, Canada Growth Fund (May – August 2027)

PSP Investments is one of Canada’s largest pension investors, managing CAD$320.6 billion in net assets. The Intern for the Canada Growth Fund will support the investment management team in executing transactions, conducting analyses, and preparing investment memorandums to drive climate-focused investments in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Assist deal teams on the execution of transactions, including direct investments in projects and companies, as well as external fund commitments
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of investment opportunities
  • Assess key merits and risks
  • Conduct sector and thematic research
  • Perform financial (valuation, returns, modelling) and impact analysis
  • Assist in key due diligence activities including reviewing work performed by third-party advisors (commercial, legal, accounting, tax, environmental, etc.)
  • Assist deal teams in the determination of material ESG factors and calculation of impact metrics, including avoided emissions and economic benefits associated with transactions
  • Help prepare investment memorandums and participate in the presentation of recommendations to the Investment Committee
  • Participate in the management of existing portfolio companies and assets

Qualification

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, Mathematics or Engineering degree (in penultimate or final academic year)
  • Business acumen and excellent financial/accounting analytical skills
  • High level of proficiency with computer tools such as MS-Office (namely Excel and PowerPoint)
  • A team player who enjoys a high-performance culture
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively (written and oral)
  • Positive proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn, ideate and innovate
  • A respect for differences of opinion and an inclusive mindset
  • Currently enrolled full-time in an academic program and, except in limited circumstances, must be able to return to studies after the internship or have it as part of the curriculum; candidates who have recently graduated may also be considered, subject to meeting all other eligibility requirements
  • Candidates must have the right to work in Canada for the period specified to be considered for this position. No support to obtain the right to work will be provided. Options include Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid open work permit

Preferred

  • Currently enrolled in an investment program, an asset
  • Good communications skills in English and French (or willingness to learn)
